Based on MOE’s latest syllabus and examination formats, Chinese Tuition Programme follows closely to the school textbook curriculum, and is specially designed for students with a weaker foundation of the Chinese language or whose results are below average. Through revision of vocabulary in the school textbooks, basic knowledge of the Chinese language, and guiding students to score well using simple and practical techniques, this tuition programme aims to improve students’ comprehension skills, writing and oral on a comprehensive level. Through this programme, students will be able to catch up with lessons in class, overcome learning difficulties, and boost their confidence for examinations, enhancing their Chinese results in general.
Chinese Enrichment Course is designed for students with a good foundation in the Chinese language and who wish to see improvement in a short span of time. Following MOE’s latest syllabus and examination formats closely, improving students’ comprehension, writing, listening, and oral skills (Video Conversation component in Oral). Apart from revision of vocabulary in school textbooks, students will also be learning common sayings (惯用语), proverbs (谚语), idioms (成语), allegorical sayings (歇后语), wisdom quotes 名人格言) and more, therefore enhancing their understanding of Chinese culture and overall learning ability.
Higher Chinese Enrichment Course is designed for P5-P6 students taking Higher Chinese, as they are required to sit for both Chinese and Higher Chinese exams. This course includes both Chinese Enrichment Course and HCL content, such as HCL Compositions, HCL Comprehensions and HCL Language & Usage. Other than revision of vocabulary in school textbooks for both CL & HCL, students will be able to strengthen their knowledge in different idioms, poems, allusions (典故) and other cultural expressions, elevating students’ understanding of Chinese culture and ability to express themselves.
Composition & Comprehension Course is recommended for students who seek to pursue better Chinese results and is designed based on MOE’s latest syllabus and examinations format. Based on popular composition topics, this course trains students to write effectively, through learning the use of idioms, proverbs, common sayings, poems and wisdom quotes, enabling them to score well in their composition examinations. This course also aims to enhance students’ comprehension skills through effective practising of comprehensions, improving students’ comprehension skills and understanding of Chinese culture.
With only eight lessons, this short-term course is specially designed for P6 students and is recommended as a crash course before PSLE. Through this course, students will learn the basic requirements and things to note for Reading Aloud (朗读短文), Video Conversation (看录像会话) and Listening. They will also practice reading aloud, watch videos and converse with the teacher extensively, grasping Oral & Listening techniques, in order to boost one’s examinations skills within a short span of time and score well.
This course is specially designed for students who are weak in composition-writing. There are two levels of classes, one for P3-P4, another for P5-P6. In this course, we will first guide students to write simple phrases and sentences based on pictures, then to combine the sentences into a paragraph, and eventually completing a composition. At the same time, we will teach students to write simple introduction and conclusion, descriptions of emotions and actions etc., to improve their composition results in the shortest time possible and build their confidence for examinations.
This is a short-term course specially designed by Mr Ann Jang Juan (Principal, HAN Language Centre), suitable for students of K2 to P3 to learn together in a class. Making use of iPads, students will be able to read and listen to 20 fun stories, learning over a thousand words with Chinese-English translation, and play interactive games on the iPads. After 10 physical lessons, students will be able to purchase another 20 Hanzi800 lessons online, learning a total of 40 lesson texts and 40 fun stories. Through repetitive learning, K2 students will be able to grasp 90% of P3 level’s words, while P1-P3 students will be able to recognise and read P4 level’s lesson text.
To better fit the needs of students, we are offering Holiday Supplementary Courses during the school holidays, including Hanyu Pinyin, P1 Preparation Course (2 lessons of Hanyu Pinyin and 8 lessons of Character Recognition). For P1 students, learning Hanyu Pinyin is the key to enter the world of Chinese characters. Aligned to the current P1 textbook syllabus, this course helps to strengthen students’ character or word recognition skills.
